1. Position Summary

We are seeking a Board-Certified Pulmonary/Sleep Medicine specialist
to provide outpatient-only locum tenens coverage beginning
October 2026.
This role is strictly ambulatory with no hospital work, no ICU,
and no inpatient consults
.

2. Scope of Work

Clinical Duties

  • Outpatient pulmonary evaluations and follow-ups
  • Sleep medicine consultations (new & established)
  • CPAP/BiPAP management and equipment review
  • Chronic disease management (COPD, asthma, ILD)
  • Sleep study interpretation (if applicable)
  • PFT interpretation (as credentialed)
Procedures

  • Spirometry
  • PFT review
  • No bronchoscopy
  • No critical care

3. Work Schedule

  • Days: 4–5 clinic days per week (flexible)
  • Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Call: None
  • Hospital: None

4. Patient Volume

  • Average 10–16 patients per day
  • Pulmonary / Sleep mix approximately 60 / 40

5. Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Pulmonary Medicine
  • Board Certified or Eligible in Sleep Medicine
  • Active Oregon medical license (or willing to obtain)
  • DEA registration

6. EMR

  • Athena EMR
  • Training provided

7. Compensation & Logistics

  • $220–$270/hour
  • Malpractice provided
  • Travel, lodging, and mileage reimbursed

Sleep Technician

A sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in-center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care, and direct patient education. A sleep technologist is credentialed in sleep technology and is able to provide oversight of other sleep center staff. Technicians and trainees work under the direct supervision of the credentialed sleep technologist or the medical director.

Job Description

We are looking to hire a motivated, responsible individual to work full-time, 3 nights per week.

Duties include:

  • Recognizing when PAP therapy is needed and appropriately titrating each patient to their individual breathing requirements
  • Scoring, staging, marking, and recording all types of events and necessary information in the polysomnogram
  • Obtaining patient medical and sleep-related history & information in both verbal and written form and documenting accordingly
  • Preparing written reports containing all necessary information regarding sleep study and patient information
  • Practicing professional and genial communication skills throughout patient’s entire duration in the sleep lab
  • Applying specific methods to properly clean various equipment used during night

Qualifications/Licensure:

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
  • Oregon State License
  • CPR/BLS

  • Run reports reconciling monthly billing cycle
  • Follow up on unpaid claims
  • Assist with new employee applications
  • Attend meetings and training internally with the team and with clients
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1 year of medical billing experience
  • or – Medical Coding Certificate

Preferred Requirements:

  • 1 year of ICD-10 experience
  • Knowledge of Athena billing

Essential Functions

  • Supports clinic compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and YVPSC rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures governing the clinical provision of medical services as well as those relating to, but not limited to, workplace safety, public health, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with patients of all ages.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with the department: communicates with other HHS departments, as necessary, in order to resolve operational problems and make the most effective use of the resources in delivering quality patient care.
  • Checks patients in by taking vitals, assessing pain, obtaining medication allergies, and assessing the reason for the patient visits and other assessments as required.
  • Completes the appropriate electronic health record templates.
  • Review the patient chart, and check for any outstanding lab, x-ray results or any medical visits since the last appointment.
  • Reviews patient medications and refills.
  • Assists provider during examinations and performs treatments, procedures, and waived lab testing within the scope of competency and training.
  • Administers medications as ordered by providers and according to HHS policy/protocol.
  • Stocks and cleans exam room: clean the exam table and other furniture with an appropriate cleansing agent as per protocol.
  • Performs quality control duties on a daily basis in accordance with regulatory and department policy.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
  • Works in consultation with clinical teams, direct clinical support staff, and indirect clinical support staff to develop and implement policies and procedures that maximize patient-centered communication and services.
  • Attends all staff meetings, department meetings, and any other meetings as required.
    Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
  • Performs related work as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to provide patient services appropriate to the ages served.
  • Proficient computer skills for chart completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary in order to interact with and enhance patient relations.
  • Knowledge of Athena EMR system preferred.
